Confession: I’m a serial re-decorator. Well, in my mind anyway. I’m always re-designing, tweaking and testing out new ideas. When I see a product, a design or even a colour that strikes my fancy, I start mentally re-configuring the room that I think would suit that inspiration best. Even if the room I’m envisioning isn’t on our list to change in the near future, I start looking for the materials I’d need. And then I online shop. A pretty way to organize your business cards!
I was lucky enough to attend the Haven Conference in Atlanta a couple of weekends ago and I had such fun meeting amazing bloggers (in person!) and collecting their fabulous business cards. But coming home, I hated how jumbled they all were so I set out to organize them. I was at Walmart the other day with one item on my list: kids shampoo. An easy way to make basket liners!
Baskets. My other half says I’m obsessed with them. I’ll totally admit that. They hide store so many sins and when you have them all looking uniform with pretty labels, what’s not to love?! My latest project is re-organizing one of our junky closets (a post on that is coming soon!) and I found these baskets that I wanted to re-use for the space: Some of the liners were so old they were coming apart at the seams and no manner of washing these (previously) white liners was going to make them white again. So I decided to find the quickest (laziest) way for me to make basket liners. How to fix a damaged shelf edge!
This was one of those things that could either have been a waste of time or work really well. I'm happy to say it was the latter! Some of the shelving found in our closets were chipped and damaged. Most of it was melamine shelving and seeing chunks of it flake off the edge made the shelving look old and ratty. I started Googling how to fix it. The first option was an obvious one - replace the shelving. But most of them were nailed, glued, (cemented!) in place and removing them would require sanding, a new paint job, finding new shelving, installing them, etc. More steps than I was willing to commit to. Option 2 was using iron-on melamine edging. But having to chip away at the remaining shelf edge to get it all off was not how I wanted to spend my evenings. What was my ... [ Read More ]
