I Heart Peelable Spray Paint!

February 19, 2018 By Lidia 4 Comments

Question: Do you decorate for every season? Or do you avoid decorating said seasons because of all the single-use junk you collect afterwards? I’m in the second boat. I typically don’t decorate for each season like Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, etc because of all the stuff I have to store afterwards. And throwing it out or giving it away feels like a waste on so many levels. But then I found this: a peelable (yup, PEELABLE!) primer spray paint!

See those little bunnies? I picked them up from (you guessed it!) the dollar store. And while they are perfect for Easter which is coming up, I thought, couldn’t I use them for Valentine’s Day? Or for year-round decor? That’s when this primer came into my life (Thank you Rustoleum!)

The idea is you apply the primer, then apply your spray paint colour of choice, and when you’re done with that season or when you’re sick of the colour, simply peel off the layer of spray paint and you’re back to your original finish! I gave it a shot with these bunnies!

The first step was cleaning off these little guys, making to remove any dirt and debris, and then applying the primer.

Next up was applying the red spray paint I chose. Lately that’s my colour of choice!

And BAM!!!  I now have red bunnies!

As much as I liked them red, I wanted to show you how easy (and satisfying!) it was to peel this red layer off. (Seriously it’s as satisfying as pulling off a Biore nose strip) Just grab a section, score it, and then start peeling it away.

See?! Look at how the paint came off so cleanly!

This blew my mind! It got me thinking of all the things I could re-use for home decor. And how forgivable this technique is for those who are spray paint newbies. (If you screw up, just peel it off and start again!) I heart this stuff! Ok, now run, grab a can and tell me what you think! I want pictures people!!

Wow! There are so many different ideas and projects I could do with this, and I’m a minimalist, so I don’t go overboard on decorating because the stuff sits in storage for a year after you use it. This paint and primer would save me from having to store some things, though, so thanks! That’s really neat.

Yayy! So glad you find out it useful! Storage (and then remembering you have that stuff!) is a pain for me so this really would reduce that – and induce more creativity I think!
